a Very Decent Family Movie to watch

I first saw this movie on DVD when I rented it at Blockbuster back in 2009 and it was decent and heartwarming. The Story is decent, the characters are good as well, and the Chemistry between Chestnut (who is a Great Dane) and Sal and Ray is heartwarming and remarkable. If you like "Bingo" (1991), "Free Willy", "Shiloh", "Beethoven", "Andre" and "Monkey Trouble", you'll enjoy it as much as kids will and Dog Lovers as well.

Such a great kids film!!!

Whoever rated this a 1 is taking themselves too seriously in life. In fact, anything under 6!!!

This is a fabulous film, it's sweet, funny, and entertaining. The two little girls in the film were fantastic and it really does show the bond between people and animals.

For the type of movie this is, it doesn't get much better. Loved it!

Great family movie!

I watched this movie with my two toddlers (3.5 and 1.5 years). We all really enjoyed it. There's plenty of cute puppy action to keep the kids engaged, and the story (while predictable) was heartwarming.

The parents were very loving, the children sincere and sweet, and the "villains" weren't too scary. (It was nice to have a movie with some dramatic conflict without my toddler cringing because of scary music or scary people.)

I liked the elements of faith (it was subtle, not preachy), family loyalty, love, and forgiveness. People were willing to change, and many of the characters learned and grew and made changes in their lives. I found a lot of opportunities to talk with my kids about important life lessons throughout the movie. Two Mommy thumbs up!
