Needless to say that I had indeed never heard about this 2003 short horror film titled "Hotel of Terror" prior to sitting down and watching it here in 2024. And I had virtually no idea what I was in for, but I assumed that the title was a dead give away for the contents of the movie.
Turns out that I was wrong, as the story takes place in a workshop of sort, and has absolutely nothing to do with a hotel.
The storyline put together by Mike Strain Jr. Was so simplistic that it was bordering on being non-existing. There was no contents to this movie, aside from a handful of men trying to kill a cardboard monster.
Yup, a cardboard monster. Just when you thought you had seen it all.
Of course I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in "Hotel of Terror". Not that I was particularly impressed with what I witnessed, though I am not saying that the acting performances were bad. The movie was too short and devoid of any plot and storyline contents for the actors to bring to the screen.
Visually, then you're not in for anything grand here, as this was a low budget movie. But at least it was made with the heart and spirit in the right place.
Running at 32 minutes, "Hotel of Terror" is a piece of cake to sit through, despite it lacking entertainment value. This is not a feature that will find its way back on my screen a second time. Nor is it something I would recommend horror fans to actually go out of their way to get to watch.
The movie's title made zero sense at all.
My rating of writer and director Mike Strain Jr.'s 2003 short horror film "Hotel of Terror" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
