Just been invited to a preview of the movie, yesterday evening. There are some funny scenes and situations, but the audience never EXPLODED in laughter, like in "Astérix et Obélix Mission Cléopatre", also by Alain CHABAT. Swiss people can be quite fussy about funny movies, we do not always laugh for the same reasons as the Frenchmen, who actually MAKE these movies... But we still did laugh...

Movie Reviews
Funny, but nothing spectacular
At 35.000 years before !!
Actually a French comedy-satire over cavemen at 35.000 years before when an advanced tribe has a strange habit to wash their hair with the unsual shampoo, meantime has another tribe in a primitive stage that used to mud in their hairs, many thing comes across with first murder on the took place there, a joint action is designed by the Clan's chief to find a reason for such atrocity, naïve comedy that brings some social commentary over the nowadays mankind, when the murder was committed, also emphasisze the fabulous spot where the picture was shot with great rocky formation analogous at middle stone age, a French trademark comedy, very similar with Obelix and Asterix series exploiting something like that, puerile but undoubtedly funny and enjoyable!!!

The French "Naked Gun"
For the first 15 minutes or so, "RRRrrrr!!!" feels fresh. Then you start to realize that most of its jokes are variations on the same joke: prehistoric people doing anachronistically modern things. It could have played around more with the "whodunit" aspect, but it refuses to do so - it shows you the murderer right at the moment of the murder. The film looks good, it has clever moments and at least one inspiredly surreal sequence (hint: supermarket), and Elise Larnicol is perfectly deadpan, but the comedy runs out of steam long before the end. Depardieu's participation is little more than an extended cameo. ** out of 4.
